Las Primas Segundas is definitely a postmodern novel. It is filled with neologisms, with feverisg metaphors, with novel ideas. The book is composed of short stories sutured with invisible stitches. The reading will be definitely slow at the beginning until you become accustomed to the provocative ideas. An invitation that stimulates a continuous flow of ideas and interpretations.
A "translation" of each neologism will be different after each reflection and re-reflection. Yet, the context of the narrative carries a poetic rhythm, a virgin style, a cauldron of temperamental and fluctuating terms. To read this work is to become immersed in a neo-surrealist world, in a new universe. The novel is, literally, novel.
The author's own narrative style inaugurated in Las Primas Segundas is displayed here again. This book is a voyage through the world of his invented words. Each paragraph invites us to reflect, to encounter ourselves with old, new words and to give them a meaning the own narrative may suggest or some other definition.
Like Las Primas Segundas, Las Segundas Trinas is a novel made of interwoven short stories using a fine thread. Loyal to his unique writing style, Javier Enriquez Serralde takes us into a surrealistic world of his own creation.
Reading is a challenge, even a delirious challenge but with the depth, the pressure that melts the inevitable introspection through times that have not happened or that have passed.
Coming soon... Los Cuadros Quinos
Javier Enríquez Serralde brings the anticipated
prequel of Las Trinas Cuadras
The plot begins in 2003 when waking up from a profound sleep, the protagonist discovers himself in a remote place, in an unknown time and in a different body.
From Italy, to the United States and Mexico, literally in an odyssey, the character searches to recapture the past, to re-encounter friends and loved ones. But everything and everyone are changed. The reader vividly enters and mingles with the bourgeoisie life in Mexico from the 1970s to the 2000s.
This is a novel that will transmogrify you in someone else, that will make you laugh out loud, that will prompt you to ponder; in a world where the barricades of time and dimension are shattered, where the preconceived limitations of "being" human are smashed.
Los Cuadros Quinos could be a heretical portrait of life, or simply, a reality expressed with a cauldron of words, bubbling to compose a language bursting with meaning.
